Chassol Unveils New Track and Announces the Release of His Fifth Album

March 24, 2026

The French musician Christophe Chassol has unveiled a new track, “What Is Stand-Up?” in collaboration with British vocalist Ala.ni, serving as the first single from his fifth album due out in May.

With his fifth album titled Funny How?, Chassol expands his concept of “Ultrascores” toward a more contemporary and engaged dimension. On this new record, the composer continues to weave elements of speech music, where spoken recordings are harmonized and where each syllable corresponds to a played note. Funny How? may be the most accessible album yet from Chassol, blending influences from jazz, soul, rap and even musical theatre.

In keeping with this new track What Is Stand-Up?, the record dives into the world of American stand-up, featuring voices from iconic figures on the American comedy scene such as Dave Chappelle, as well as voices from emerging talents encountered in New York and Chicago.

Funny How? (Créature/Bigwax). Release date May 22.
