In the midst of a world tour for their fourth album “Getting Killed”, the New Yorkers Geese offered very timely nods to icons of British rock during their notable stops in Glasgow and Manchester.
In Paris, at the Bataclan, Geese had limited themselves to an improvisation around Interstellar Overdrive by Pink Floyd. On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, Geese played at the O2 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester. As usual, the Brooklyn gang had prepared a surprise at the heart of their track 2122 (3D Country, 2023) which regularly serves as a springboard for an improvisation or a cover. It was Fools Gold, the 1989 classic by the Stone Roses, that Cameron Winter’s band mischievously chose that evening, in a wink to the Madchester of the 1990s.
Without falling into the ease of Oasis covers, Geese extends a tribute already started in February 2026 during the BRIT Awards ceremony. While receiving the International Group of the Year award, the drummer Max Bassin paid homage to the memory of Gary “Mani” Mounfield, the Stone Roses’ iconic bassist who passed away in November, by launching a Free Palestine, fuck ICE, R.I.P. Mani, let’s go Geese.
A few days earlier, on Saturday March 21, 2026, in Glasgow, at the SWG3 venue, Cameron Winter sang the opening notes of Movin’ On Up, the opening track of Primal Scream’s masterpiece Screamadelica (1991). The performance video, shared by the band on social media, drew admiration from the Bobby Gillespie-led group, who said they were “honored” by this reinterpretation.
As their British trek wrapped up on March 25 in London, the band now gears up to roam the summer 2026 festivals, from Primavera Sound to Coachella.
Meanwhile, as their British excursion drew to a close on March 25 in London, the group is now set to sweep the summer 2026 festival circuit, from Primavera Sound to Coachella.
