Boards of Canada Finally Announce New Album 13 Years After Tomorrow’s Harvest

April 26, 2026

Six days after unveiling the unreleased “Tape 05”, the fraternal Scottish duo confirms its comeback, announcing a fifth album, “Inferno”, due on May 29.

It was a prescient omen that proved true. After breaking, last week, thirteen years of an interminable discographic silence since Tomorrow’s Harvest (2013) by releasing, to everyone’s surprise, Tape 05 (an intriguing ambient piece in VHS mode), Boards of Canada will indeed make their discographic return in 2026. The brothers Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin have just announced the release of their fifth album, Inferno, for May 29, still on their long-time Warp label since the monumental Music Has the Right to Children (1998).

As is customary with the Scottish duo, little information circulates about this new record, aside from the (stunning) cover art unveiled, the tracklist revealed, and a first teaser that remains as enigmatic as ever.
