The Rolling Stones: A New Album on the Horizon, Featuring a Star-Studded Lineup

May 16, 2026

After weeks of secrecy, the use of the “Cockroaches” pseudonym, and mysterious ultra-limited vinyls, the Rolling Stones finally announce their major return to the recording scene with the release of two new singles and a lineup of legends.

To orchestrate their big comeback, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood first drew from their archives by reviving “The Cockroaches” (the cockroaches, a nod to the Beatles’ beetle counterparts), a name used in 1977 for two secret concerts in Toronto.

A mysterious website was launched for a giant treasure hunt blending QR codes and GPS coordinates. The savviest fans were guided to independent record shops to obtain white-label vinyls (unlabeled) of the first single from their 25th studio album Foreign Tongues: the blues-rock track Rough and Twisted, sold at 10.07 euros. Rough and Twisted is now available, along with the track In the Stars.

A price that wasn’t accidental, as it pointed directly to the project’s official release date, today confirmed for July 10. The album cover, a slightly haunting collage of Mick, Keith and Ronnie’s mugs, was unveiled on the Rolling Stones’ Instagram account. Foreign Tongues is produced by American Andrew Watt (who is also working on the upcoming Paul McCartney project).

All-Star Cast

The Rolling Stones have also revealed that Charlie Watts, the band’s longtime drummer who died in 2021, will appear posthumously on the album, captured during one of his final recording sessions. Steve Winwood (Traffic), Paul McCartney and Robert Smith (The Cure), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) are also credited on the record. We can’t wait to see the tracklist!
