The Strokes Drop New Song and It’s Amazing

May 25, 2026

The New Yorkers revealed this Wednesday, May 13, an exhilarating second teaser from their seventh album, “Reality Awaits,” slated for release on June 26, 2026.

If Going Shopping had managed to unsettle a few fans upon its release on April 7, we had found our way back into harmony with the first single from the New Yorkers’ seventh record by examining the artistic direction the Strokes have chosen.

On this Wednesday, May 13, the band announced the release of Falling Out of Love, a second single that has everything it takes to win universal approval. It is a downtempo, autotuned ballad lasting more than six minutes, with a stunning concluding bridge that reframes the initial sequence of chords. “Riding up the mountain side […] Falling out of love for the first time,” seems to be sung by a robotic cowboy who has lost his feelings for the one they love. A rougher, more demo-like early version of Falling Out of Love had leaked on the Reddit forum about a month ago. For the curious, you can find it here by clicking.

Precisely the kind of track one would expect from the Strokes—beautifully dressed in flawless production by Rick Rubin… In short, we’re eagerly anticipating what comes next.
