Fana Hues is one of the most undervalued R&B artists in the United States, able to blend lasting melodies with bold creativity. It’s no accident she was discovered through “SWEET / I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE,” one of the standout tracks in Tyler, the Creator’s career.
The artist is on the verge of releasing her fourth album, probably the most anticipated in her journey thanks to previews that are nearly flawless. While “Recognize” embraces a vintage sound whose melody at times echoes Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror,” “Sweet n’ Sour” has become the Song of the Day.
Upon its release, it immediately became the quintessential breakup anthem of summer 2026, though many listeners still have to discover it. Hues coats the catchy chorus with beautiful “fuck you” moments in the hooks as she sings about the “bitter end” of the relationship, but also the possibility of “falling in love again.” She’s had enough of all the “crap” from her ex.
The worst thing about “Sweet n’ Sour” is how short it is. Yet, in its two brief minutes, the artist keeps things interesting by constantly changing and transforming melodies, while delivering a light and enveloping production, like the best summer breeze. “Catch n’ Release,” Fana Hues’ fourth album, will be available on August 4.
