In the morning of this Monday, August 10, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake shook the country’s western region, leaving at least 224 people dead and hundreds injured at the time this article was written. David Bisbal was in Bogotá to film the first edition of Operación Triunfo USA and has shared on his social networks how he experienced the quake.
Before calmly presenting his statements, the singer recorded a video from his hotel room in which the lamp can be seen swinging from side to side as he reacts in real time: “An earthquake, I hope nothing happens, my God. Damn it, please, Virgin Mary…,” you can hear him say.
The following day, he said that his initial reaction upon waking to the tremor was, naturally, “a bit of panic”: “After about a minute, everything ended, and a lot of alarms started sounding due to the protocol of other buildings adjacent to mine,” he explains.
The earthquake did not severely affect the capital city where Bisbal was located, but it did wreak havoc in interior provinces of Colombia: “From here I want to send a greeting and a huge kiss to the people affected,” the singer concluded. On the other hand, the Government has confirmed that there are 164 Spaniards in the country who are “unaccounted for.”
