Jungle’s new album has arrived just in time to be enjoyed for the rest of the summer. The project’s lead single shares its title with the album itself, ‘Sunshine’, and finds the British trio returning to their signature formula after the three preceding previews: ‘Carry On’, ‘The Wave’, and ‘Someday, Somewhere’.
‘Sunshine’ is a funk, disco, and soul bop in which Lidia Kitto sings about a love that ‘had to feel like sunlight,’ a love she cannot stop wanting. In the process, recalling the early days of The Avalanches, Jungle crafts a track built from samples that aren’t found in any vinyl shop, but in their own studio.
The ease with which Jungle manages to emulate the use of samples from the 50s and 60s through original recordings has been evident throughout their career, and their latest track is no exception. While it may seem filled with chopped elements and recycled melodies, ‘Sunshine’ remains a source of originality.
We should note that Jungle will present their new album with two concerts in our country on November 26 and 28, at Madrid’s Movistar Arena and Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi, respectively.
