Courtney Love has confirmed that her second solo album, the follow-up to ‘America’s Sweetheart’, is finally finished. She announced it in a video posted to her Instagram account, in which she also revealed details about a serious illness she suffered in 2019.
“Many of you have been asking where the album is. It’s finished. It’s been sitting finished for a while. It’s a very good record,” Love begins. Explaining why the second album didn’t arrive sooner, she revealed that in 2019 she suffered an illness that kept her hospitalized: “I almost died,” she says.
Love explains that she lost “all my hair,” weighed “around 45 kilograms,” and that doctors told her she would die: “I didn’t believe them,” she states. Now healthy and with the album recorded, Love turns to discuss the broader situation facing live music: “People sound amazing live. The girls are incredible. I just need to figure out how to do this.”
To finish, the artist notes that when she began work on her next album, she thought it might be the last, so she made the record she had always wanted to make: “I spent most of the time in the hospital, but when I wasn’t, all I did was write and record,” she concludes.
