In recent days, social networks have been awash with allegations of abuses involving Yves Tumor. The posts have spread across Reddit and X, prompting singer Kidä to address the matter publicly.
She chose X to share her experience: “Following the recent allegations against Yves Tumor, I want to share my own experience. I have known Shanti for years and I sang on ‘Lovely Sewer’ on his latest album. What followed was one of the most disrespectful professional experiences of my career.”
The dissatisfying episode began with financial demands: she had to pay for her travel and accommodation during the tour. Throughout the tour, he was immersed in a drug-fueled partying spree that never seemed to end — at one point, going five days without sleep. He emotionally abused his girlfriend, who was also along on the tour. He repeatedly tried to sleep with Kidä, despite her clear boundaries.
Her account continues with a broader pattern of mistreatment: he berated, mocked, and provoked his bandmates constantly. Everyone around him moved with caution, trying not to provoke him. He took out his anger on roadies, Uber drivers, hotel receptionists — essentially anyone unlucky enough to be near him.
In another post, she added: “Also, I’d like to add that, as a female artist who is already at a disadvantage in this industry, speaking out is very risky and condemnatory. But I won’t be intimidated into complicity or enabling harmful behaviors that could lead to more women getting harmed. I am speaking out in light of the recent accusations that he sexually assaulted women. I don’t expect to gain anything from this other than spreading the truth so that, ideally, we can make space for a future where women are treated with at least a basic level of respect.”

Over the past decade, Yves Tumor has become a cult figure in music, thanks to releases such as Heaven to a Tortured Mind. Lately, he has surged in popularity after making a cameo at the end of Rosalía’s Berghain, portraying a toxic character or intrusive thought, in contrast to Björk, who acts as God. “I’ll fuck you until you love me” is his lone line in that track, which—garnering almost 200 million streams—has easily become his most-streamed song on Spotify.
