Lionel Richie is doing okay. After having been hospitalized twice in two months, he has just been readmitted to the hospital for a new cardiac issue, according to TMZ.
The “Hello” singer is receiving treatment for atrial fibrillation, a type of arrhythmia that causes an irregular heartbeat. Doctors are performing an ablation, a minimally invasive procedure aimed at restoring the heart’s normal rhythm.
As a result, the three remaining dates on his “Sing a Song All Night Long” tour with Earth, Wind & Fire have been canceled: the concert this Saturday in San Francisco and the ones scheduled for September 30 in Chicago and October 2 in Columbus.
This is Richie’s third hospitalization in recent months. In August he spent three days admitted, including an ICU stay, after a concert in St. Louis. And in June he had to be transported by ambulance to a hospital after feeling dizzy during a performance in St. Paul, which had to be halted.
