In just over a month, ‘AURA’ will be released, Amelie Lens’s new album, and the latest preview we’ve heard from the record is a serious techno banger that features another Belgian artist, Angèle.
Angèle is clearly in her most club-ready era. We were already expecting this from Amelie Lens since she is a techno producer and it’s rare to attend a festival where she doesn’t spin, but Angèle has shifted from pop to collaborating with Justice on ‘What You Want’ and, with ‘Dis-le,’ releasing a rave-ready banger.
Specifically in another rave setting, ‘Run’ is the single that links Amelie and Angèle, built on dark techno and pulsating rhythms. The track carries a sense of threat and danger, while Angèle’s voice adds the melodic dimension.
‘Run’ is also very contemporary in that it is narrated by a seemingly computerized character, as if it were an AI with ‘programmed memories’ and a ‘synthetic love.’ Spoiler: at the end it wonders whether it might be ‘Human After All,’ a possible reference to the robots’ most famous album in history, Daft Punk.
