Ariana Grande debuts at No. 1 on Spain’s album chart with ‘Petal’. It marks the artist’s first number-one in our country, after having come close on several occasions with her previous releases.
In Spain, ‘Petal’ enters straight at No. 1, ahead of Quevedo, who drops to No. 2 with ‘El Baifo’, and Bad Bunny, who falls to No. 3 with ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’.
Until now, Ariana’s best result in Spain had been No. 2 for ‘Eternal Sunshine’, which is certified for 40,000 copies in our country. ‘Thank U, Next’ reached No. 3 and ‘Positions’ up to No. 5. ‘Petal’ finally breaks through that barrier and brings Grande to the top of the Spanish chart, thanks in part to a lack of competition.
In the United States, ‘Petal’ also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 295,000 album-equivalent units. Of these, 168,000 are pure album sales. It is Ariana Grande’s seventh No. 1 in the United States and its second-best week in terms of both total units and pure sales. Additionally, she has sold 96,000 vinyl records, the best week of her career in this format.
With this new No. 1, Grande ties Janet Jackson and Lady Gaga as the solo artists with the fifth-most albums to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
But the album’s success goes beyond that. ‘Petal’ has also been No. 1 in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, in addition to leading the Australian vinyl chart. It is Ariana’s sixth No. 1 album in these three markets.
The Spanish chart also features two other notable entries. ‘9 Months & 50 Hours’, the collaboration by Fred again.. and Latin Mafia, debuts at No. 25. Further down, at No. 84, enters the soundtrack for ‘Heated Rivalry’, the television series, composed by Peter Peter.
