Bad Bunny Wins His First Emmy for the Super Bowl Halftime Show

September 7, 2026

Bad Bunny has earned his first Emmy thanks to his memorable Super Bowl Halftime Show. The Puerto Rican star collected the statuette during the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony, held in advance of the main gala. The main broadcast is scheduled to air on September 14 from Los Angeles.

The show had nine nominations, and it ended up taking seven of them. The Puerto Rican halftime act thus became the most-nominated entry in the history of the awards. In addition to the award recognizing Bad Bunny himself, the program also won in several categories: Outstanding Musical Direction, Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Sound Mixing, Outstanding Technical Direction, Outstanding Lighting Design, and Outstanding Directing for a Special Program.

Bad Bunny was not the only musical artist to receive recognition that night, with Sabrina Carpenter also earning an Emmy for her participation in the The Muppets Show special. With the Grammy and the Emmy in hand, both artists are halfway toward claiming the four major awards of the industry, with the Oscar and the Tony still to come.
