One of the “fools” mentioned in Parquesvr’s latest single, Tonto, has seen his contract with Burger King terminated. The fast-food chain ended its collaboration with El Xokas after a week marked by controversial statements.
Among the streamer’s notable remarks, he boasted of having “earned more in a Burger King promo than your parents did in 20 years working” during a live argument and claimed that dating Ester Expósito wouldn’t compensate him for her political views. He said he would prefer to go out “with a six,” in a display of self-confidence that some would call admirable.
Burger King announced that it is breaking its relationship with the content creator, considering that his recent statements “do not represent the company’s values.” The brand also pulled his image from the Grand King campaign, which he shared with Marta Díaz, Peldanyos, and Marina Rivers.
The controversy has even reached Congress. Águeda Micó, a Compromís deputy, responded to El Xokas’s remarks about Ester Expósito by reviving a phrase popularized by Mariang (La Pija y la Quinqui): “We must start calling the dumbasses dumbasses.” A slogan that connects with the song mentioned at the beginning of this article.
It is unknown how much money El Xokas earned from the campaign, though it’s hard to imagine it was less than a few tens of thousands of euros. In any case, something tells us that his line about having earned “more in a Burger King promo than your parents in 20 years working” hasn’t aged well.
