Doja Cat has experienced a reflective moment with her fans thanks to her latest TikTok videos. The artist, who this year has only appeared as a collaborator on Latto’s track “Okayyy” after releasing the album “Vie” at the end of 2025, has taken advantage of her platform to be candid about a past cocaine addiction, issues with alcohol, and a severe lack of self-esteem, while urging viewers not to follow the same path.
“I’ve dealt with cocaine problems. I think it was about eight years ago, but I’ve completely moved past it,” the American artist begins. We can infer that this was a struggle she faced around the time of the release of her debut album, “Amala.” Yet, moments later, Doja asserts that she has never had “drug problems” and shifts focus to alcohol.
She explains that drinking produced negative thoughts and that she used the Internet as a form of “validation” for those same ideas: “I’ve never been an alcoholic, but I had issues.” She continues clarifying that “it’s not a good idea to pair these two things”: “Be creative and take care of yourselves: you’re not indestructible,” she advised.
Doja Cat also admitted to hating herself, describing it as something “very obvious”: “I even vocalized it out loud when I was 16. I think I’ve hated myself since I was 8 years old, since I moved to my predominantly white neighborhood,” she confessed. To close, Doja says she feels at peace: “The only thing I can do is go through all of that, and I’ve done it. I also think it’s very important to speak about it publicly because a lot of people don’t talk about this shit.”
