As a prelude to his fifteenth album Spirales, due to be released on October 9, the towering singer Dominique A unveils the electric single “One Day I Disappeared,” along with another piece that resonates with current events, “Bromide.”
Three years after Le Monde réel, which saw him fulfill his Hollis-inspired fantasy, Dominique A has decided to bring out the guitars once more for his new album Spirales, the fifteenth record of his discography slated for autumn release on October 9 through Cinq7. “Musically, the longing to play electric guitar has returned to me, along with a preference for a song that is less atmospheric, more earthy and embodied,” he confesses.
The first harbinger, the electric single One Day I Disappeared, released today and accompanied by a video directed by Gaëtan Chataigner, finds the singer reflecting on his hometown Provins where he grew up, which had already inspired his autobiographical work Y revenir (2012). The unmistakable voice, backed by guitar solos and a few crackles, carries him as he recalls friends found again, slices of life reappearing, and unconscious abandonments. “One day I disappeared / One day I disappeared”, he sings with the self-assured poise that marks him.

The other track unveiled simultaneously, Bromide, belongs to the album’s theme-driven songs, where the “virility of power is so harmful to our lives” is addressed openly, a resonance with the current moment and with his recent statements against Vincent Bolloré. The confidant voice of Dominique A points to the “corruptions that have run the world since forever”, to “repressed libidos that would thus shape human history”, and to “overbearing septuagenarians”.
For this new record, the artist continued his collaborative work with musicians Sébastien Boisseau (double bass) and Julien Noël (keyboards), joined by drummer Étienne Bonhomme, and returned to Garage Hermétique, the studio where Dominique A mixed La Fossette thirty-five years ago. A way to close a new loop.
