With their new single ‘Marianne’ pushing to climb today from number 60 into the UK top 20 in the charts during its first full week, Fontaines D.C. have something important to announce. It is their biggest tour to date: 20 shows in fairly large venues across Europe and the United Kingdom this autumn.
If their fifth album ‘Dopamine Chamber’ is released on October 16, just five days later the tour will kick off in Lisbon. Immediately afterward they will head to Spain, but not the Navarra, Alicante or the Baluarte de la Candelaria venues as this summer, where they premiered ‘Marianne’ and another new track; instead, a big arena in Madrid and a 5,000-capacity room in Barcelona. You’re guessing correctly: the Movistar Arena -where they performed a few years ago without fully exploiting the venue’s potential- and the Sant Jordi Club.
The tour ends at the O2 Arena in London on 27th November. It will also pass through Bologna, Belgrade, Prague, Łódź, Berlin, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Antwerp and Paris, before a six-date stretch in the United Kingdom hitting Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham and London.
Tickets will go on general sale at 10:00 BST / 11:00 CEST on Thursday 3 September, on their website. The pre-sale begins at 10:00 BST / 11:00 CEST on Tuesday 1 September.
