Alanis Morissette has filed a lawsuit against her former tour manager, Keren Urinov, accusing her of attempting to extort her over a matter involving drugs. According to outlets such as Billboard, the complaint was filed on Tuesday, September 1, in a federal court in California, naming Urinov in charges of extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation.
The dispute traces back to Morissette’s 2025 European tour, which took the British-born singer to Spain and included stops at Madrid’s Mad Cool festival and the Cruïlla Festival in Barcelona.
Morissette delivered two standout performances in Spain while navigating this professional controversy. The suit alleges that during the journey from the United Kingdom, the then-tour manager was detained at a British airport after authorities found marijuana and xylazina in her luggage, a tranquilizer used in veterinary medicine. Urinov reportedly explained that the marijuana belonged to her and showed an Israeli medical permit.
The alleged extortion reportedly followed the tour: Morissette accuses Urinov of sending increasingly threatening letters, insisting that she would inform British police that the drugs belonged to the singer if she did not agree to hire her as manager for fifteen years.
The deal would reportedly include salary increases, bonuses, and assistance to facilitate working in the United States. The lawsuit seeks $75,000 in damages. Urinov has not publicly responded to the allegations.
