Iceage Finally Returns with New Single ‘Star’

March 13, 2026

After four years away from the stage as a band, the Danish quintet Iceage unveils “Star,” one of their first releases since the album “Seek Shelter” (2021). Driven by Elias Rønnenfelt’s voice, still as haunted and gripping, the track signals a return to their post-punk roots and to a lyrical sensibility of romance.

Iceage hadn’t released anything as a band since 2021. In the meantime, frontman Elias Rønnenfelt has not stood still, juggling solo projects with the albums Heavy Glory (2024) and Speak Daggers (2025), or his collaboration with Dean Blunt on Lucre (2025). Not to mention a stop at the Inrocks Festival on Tuesday, March 10, last year. With 18 years in the game, Iceage continues to explore their signature concept of collapse, with music always on the edge, yet always managing to land back on its feet.

Star, their new single, is an intense love declaration powered by Rønnenfelt’s urgent vocal delivery. Shimmering guitars, a jagged rhythm, and unexpected handclaps fuel a track that likens love to the explosion of a star. Accompanied by a video directed by Thinh T. Petrus Nguyen, this release marks the return of one of the most compelling bands in the European post-punk scene.
