Julia Garner and Mark Foster have ended their marriage after more than six years together, according to a source cited by People. The Ozark actress and the leader of Foster the People first crossed paths at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013; their relationship began years later after they connected via Instagram, and they married in 2019 in a discreet ceremony at New York City Hall.
The separation arrives at a major professional moment for Garner, who in recent years has deepened her connection with Madonna. Garner was chosen to portray the singer in a biopic that ultimately was put on hold, and this year she appeared in the video for “Bring Your Love,” the lead single from “Confessions II,” embodying the young Madonna.
For his part, Mark Foster continues to lead Foster the People, the band responsible for hits such as “Pumped Up Kicks,” “Houdini,” “Sit Next to Me,” “Imagination” and “Coming of Age,” in addition to gems like “Nevermind.” During their wedding, the musician surprised Garner by performing an unreleased composition, “Lovers in a Stream,” written especially for the couple’s first dance.
Although some fans have linked songs from “Paradise State of Mind” with Garner, Foster has never confirmed that they are autobiographical. The album includes tracks about new chapters such as “Chasing Low Vibrations,” others about longing as “Feed Me,” and declarations of love like “The Holy Shangri-La” (“Oh, my love / We’ll be together”).
