Marcelo Criminal Is More Than The Guy Who Waters The Golf Course

November 1, 2026

Marcelo Criminal has once again delighted us with a new album filled with magic, simplicity, and a title that many can identify with, “Lack of Consolation and Gold.” After the acclaimed “The Last Betting Shop,” the Murcia-based artist makes it clear that although he is merely “the guy who waters the golf course,” his inner world is immense. This is the Song of the Day.

The piano-driven pop ballad from Marcelo Criminal begins with the idea that any person, no matter how mundane their occupation might seem, reflects on the most essential aspects of existence. In other words, sensitivity isn’t reserved only for those who devote themselves to the arts. Marcelo steps into the shoes of the “guy who waters the golf course” and brings us closer to his daily thoughts.

In the first of these reflections, he describes himself as “an optimist,” because he tries to enjoy “the last drops of sun” and, in general, the world around him. In the next reflection, Marcelo grows deeper: “Everything I did yesterday and what I still have to do is based on making the most of the life I have left.” And what happens if he can no longer continue his work? Absolutely nothing, because “not everything in life will be about working.” Even if you’re “the guy who waters the golf course,” that isn’t what defines you.
