Michael Kiwanuka has revealed ‘Fudge’, his forthcoming studio album, slated for release on October 23. The record marks his first release since ‘Small Changes’ (2024), but the announcement is largely framed by the singer’s personal journey in recent months.
Kiwanuka explained that he has been recovering from a stroke caused by a brain hemorrhage related to hypertension, an injury he describes as “quite serious.” Since then, he has been focused on his recovery and rehabilitation, which “will still be a long road.” This situation also explains the postponement of his U.S. shows.
Kiwanuka admits he does not yet know when he will be able to tour again or what his return to the stage will look like. “There is a lot of rehabilitation ahead,” he says, characterizing the past few months as a challenging period, although he insists that he is gradually moving forward.
Kiwanuka also publicly expressed his gratitude to the staff of the British NHS and to all the healthcare professionals who have treated him and continue to support him during his recovery. He extended thanks to his loved ones as well as to his team, who will keep fans informed about everything related to ‘Fudge’.
Details about ‘Fudge’ are expected soon—likely within this week—as the supposed cover has already surfaced on some websites.
