‘Bass Persuades’ by Miley Cyrus is set to enjoy, at least for the moment, a brief appearance on the charts. Its entry into Spotify’s Global chart was solid, landing directly at number 23 on the day of release, but since then the track has fallen apart.
On Saturday it dropped to 132, and on Sunday it disappeared from the Global Top 200. For the moment it has not managed a rebound on the worldwide chart, though there are hints of hope in a few markets.
In the United States, its homeland, ‘Bass Persuades’ entered at position 10 on Spotify, then fell to 87, and finally vanished on Sunday. The only positive takeaway so far is that this Monday, the day of the week when new songs often climb after the weekend, it reentered the U.S. chart at 137. It is also making a timid rise in smaller markets such as Poland and Austria.
There remains a long road to becoming a global hit, as ‘Flowers’ did by climbing after its initial weekend before becoming the number 1 we know today; but it is far from impossible.
According to official UK forecasts, ‘Bass Persuades’ aims to simply reach the Top 40 in the British charts, after peaking at number 21 in the midweeks. It is expected to continue dropping throughout the week, landing around positions 35–45. A scenario very similar to the United States: unofficial forecasts could place it around the 36th spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Spain is not expected to see a chart entry, where the track reached 77 on Spotify before quickly slipping to 193. For now there has been no re-entry.
