Oasis doesn’t appear to be planning to record a new album, but they have plenty to share about their historic reunion. The band has set a date for “Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger,” their announced documentary about the Oasis Live ’25 tour, which will premiere at the upcoming Venice Film Festival before hitting cinemas on September 11 and, later this year, landing on Disney+.
Directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, the duo behind “Shut Up and Play the Hits,” and developed by Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders”), the documentary will feature footage from rehearsals, behind-the-scenes moments, and performances, as well as the first joint interviews with Liam and Noel Gallagher in more than two decades.
Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher has been quick to dampen expectations about a possible studio album. There will be no such record.
After a fan begged him on X for Oasis to record a new album, the first since “Dig Out Your Soul” (2008), the singer fired back with his usual irony: “No. I’m simply not prepared for the criticisms if it doesn’t sell 100 million copies in the first hour, if it doesn’t cure the nation’s bad breath and constipation, if it doesn’t go back in time for Cher and some other crap.”
Liam wrapped up the exchange by making clear that, for now, the priority is elsewhere: “Let’s play a few shows and be happy.” When another fan asked how a hypothetical new album might sound, he replied that he’d like to think it would sound “like Oasis” and not “like a bunch of electronic hipsters desperately trying to keep up with the kids.”
