The Daisy Chain Fields festival headlined by Olivia Rodrigo closed this weekend with tremendous success, bringing together some of the finest talents in the industry under one roof: Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, Garbage… and the star herself, Olivia Rodrigo. She was the focal point of two of the event’s most memorable moments during the inaugural edition, shared with two iconic artists.
The first surprise came when Stevie Nicks stepped out during Rodrigo’s set to perform Landslide as a duo, but the most moving moment turned out to be the singer guest’s remarks about Rodrigo: “She reminds me of myself when I was her age a hundred years ago. It’s remarkable she’s managed to accomplish all this, because it’s extremely hard, you have no idea, pulling this off with so many people,” Nicks proclaimed on stage.
She wasn’t the only guest of the day. Karen O had to cancel her set due to a family emergency, so Rodrigo bridged the gap by joining forces with Alanis Morissette for a rendition of Ironic. Sara McLachlan also joined the lineup, delivering Building a Mystery and Angel, dedicated to Dolly Parton, with the author of “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.”
The fundraising reached an outright triumph, collecting ten million dollars from the festival’s proceeds and adding another ten million through a special donation from Melinda French Gates. Earlier today, Olivia Rodrigo shared on her Instagram page that “seeing Daisy Chain bear fruit has been the greatest joy of my career.”
