The tireless former Beatle has just revealed “Days We Left Behind,” a single that heralds the release of “The Boys Of Dungeon Lane,” his 18th album, steeped in nostalgia.
As an absolute icon of British pop, Paul McCartney seems eternal. At 83, the British musician announces the release of his 18th solo album – The Boys Of Dungeon Lane, due May 29. To keep us waiting, the former-Beatle released the first single from this record: Days We Left Behind. A song steeped in nostalgia “which [reminisces] many memories, he says in a press release. He ponders: “I often wonder if I’m merely writing about the past – but then I tell myself: how could one write about anything else?”.
This record will therefore evoke his younger years in Liverpool, the city where Dungeon Lane is located – an avenue that Paul McCartney mentions in the title of this new album. It lies not far from Forthlin Road, the street where he resided. “I lived in a neighborhood called Speke, fairly working-class. We didn’t have much, but it didn’t matter because everyone was fantastic and we didn’t notice that we didn’t have much”, he recalls.
