Did someone say back-to-school season? Today brings a host of interesting and highly anticipated records, including new releases from Miley Cyrus and Carly Rae Jepsen. They’re joined by Tove Lo, Orville Peck, Agnes Obel, and, of course, Beck, who signs the Album of the Week.
We also have new releases from beabadoobee, Echo & the Bunnymen, Empress Of, Chaka Khan, Son Lux, Palace, Slow Pulp, and several more. In electronic music, Actress makes a notable debut. From Spain this week, Rels B released an album, and we can also listen to the debut of the breakout band 1111.
Speaking of electronic, there is a new single by John Talabot under his alias OR, although it is the mainstream releases that will generate the most chatter in the coming weeks: Troye Sivan is the Song of the Day, sampling Madonna’s ‘Music’, Rosé tests a new ‘APT’ with ‘new trick’, Guitarricadelafuente publishes his possible Oscar contender, Shakira and Maluma team up again, and, above all, the return of Vetusta Morla with a track inspired by… ‘Highway to Hell’?
Of course, there’s a new banger from Alcalá Norte in our archives, while Kim Petras reissues her album with ‘Autoban’ among the standout tracks. Additionally, there are several major comebacks to mention, such as VIOLETA, Charlotte Adigéry and Bolis Pupul, or the even more unexpected return of Friendly Fires, seven years after their last album.
Among the day’s curiosities we have, for example, a new Beach House track that is a cover of Robert Lester Folsom and the single previewing Guille Toledano’s debut, very much in the vein of Dani Fernández. After ‘El madrileño’ and ‘La española’, comes… ‘El toledano’. You can listen to all the updates in the playlist «Ready for the Weekend».
