Right in mid-August, music isn’t taking a vacation. On the contrary, it presents some of its most important releases of the year, including works by Phoebe Bridgers and Jungle. Note that Benny Blanco also drops a solo album, with collaborations from Selena Gomez, The Marías, or Mora; and we’re also getting new releases from Sr. Chinarro, Becky G, L’Rain, Ayra Starr, Dent May, Carly Simon, or Laura Veirs.
Among the single releases, the lead single from Troye Sivan’s new album stands out, chosen as Song of the Day for today; fresh bangers from Tinashe, Joe Goddard, KATSEYE, Babymorocco, or La Roux, and some very surprising tracks by Icona Pop or Gus Dapperton.
The slate has been marked by Martin’s premiere, and among the year’s anticipated comebacks one must highlight the duo Erykah Badu and The Alchemist, who will finally release their album. Fujii Kaze & Miyagi, longtime site favorites, also return, and there is also a new single from the virtual artist Hatsune Miku together with Grimes.
Additionally, we have new offerings from Orville Peck, Bella Poarch, Jorja Smith, The Tallest Man on Earth, Slow Pulp, Los Estanques, Haruomi Hosono, Paris Paloma, Shabazz Palaces, Kasabian, Sophia Stel, Royal Blood, Django Django, Caroline Rose…
And, as always, we wrap up with a few curiosities: new non-album anthems from Ruslana or Xoel López and a Robyn cover by Yung Lean. He hasn’t chosen the obvious song, but a less expected one: ‘Robotboy’.
