The podium of the Spanish album chart remains unchanged for another week: Quevedo stays at number 1 with ‘El Baifo’, Bad Bunny continues at 2 with ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’, and Omar Courtz rounds out the top 3 with ‘Por Si Mañana No Estoy’. Further down, the news is marked by a handful of new entries and, above all, by Sam Smith’s discreet debut.
‘Hazel Eyes’ enters at number 23, a rather weak result for someone who not long ago had ‘Unholy’ everywhere. And it’s worth remembering that Sam Smith comes from a very powerful commercial track record: their debut, ‘In the Lonely Hour’, was a true international best-seller, while ‘Gloria’, released in 2023, reached number 1 in the United Kingdom and number 7 in the United States.
Now ‘Hazel Eyes’ has not reached the top 10 in any country: its best figure is 11 in Switzerland and in the United Kingdom, its main market, it stays at 21, due to the lack of hit singles. In the United States it’s not even expected to crack the chart. There are some somewhat better results, such as 14 in Scotland or 18 in Germany, but it is evident that the post-‘Unholy’ era has lost a lot of momentum and ‘Hazel Eyes’ is not managing to restore its pop phenomenon status.
The biggest entry of the week, however, is for ENHYPEN, who place ‘The Sin : Bliss’ directly at number 20, aided by their variety of physical editions. K-pop thus returns to have a prominent presence on the Spanish chart.
Among the new entries also appears Twenty One Pilots, whose ‘More Than We Ever Imagined (Live in Mexico City)’ debuts at 45. And there is a particularly significant re-entry: The Weeknd returns to number 49 with ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’, coinciding with the proximity of his concerts in Spain, which have left mixed impressions.
