Just as we were wondering what lies ahead for Rosalía now that her tour has wrapped, she will premiere two tracks on SNL, though we don’t know which ones; and she’s also up for awards like the Latin Grammys… surprise! The first definite detail we have is that she will be the guest artist on Fontaines DC’s upcoming album. It marks the first time an outsider sings on the Irish band’s record, even though Grian Chatten has collaborated with artists such as Kae Tempest or Hinds.
‘Dopamine Chamber’, the 100% sui generis post-punk album from the band, is released on October 16, and has been introduced by the single ‘Marianne’, which has achieved enormous success in the United Kingdom for a track of this kind: it peaked at number 19 and remains in the top 30 for four weeks.
Rosalía will appear on track 8, ‘Where Is Gone?’, recalling two collaborations, perhaps: the one she did with a British alternative artist like James Blake; and the bolder collaboration she did in Spain for Carolina Durante. We bet it will lean more toward the former, though it could hint at the latter.
In a previous press note, Fontaines DC’s album was described, among other things, as a compendium of “powerful ballads and anthem-like melodies that shine in the darkness.” Here is the track sequence:
1. Six Shot Morning
2. Marianne
3. Mimesis
4. Happy For You
5. Demolition
6. Tongue
7. One Man
8. Where Is Gone? (featuring ROSALÍA)
9. You Miss Me
10. Japan
11. Intimate
