The Rolling Stones are set to release a new studio album this coming July. The band kicks off this comeback with the single “Rough and Twisted,” available from Saturday, April 11, under the group’s historic alias, The Cockroaches.
It was an article from The Times that revealed the matter: the Rolling Stones are back with a new single to be published tomorrow, which will precede an album due for release in July, under the alias The Cockroaches. Produced once again by Andrew Watt (the same producer as Paul McCartney’s upcoming album), this first track named Rough and Twisted promises to stay true to the band’s fundamentals: a powerful blues-rock riff, and a Mick Jagger harmonica solo. The choice of the name The Cockroaches (in French: “les cafards”) used for the first time during secret concerts in Toronto in 1977 is a wink to the Beatles (“the beetles”) and to the Stones’ own legend. An exclusive and limited white label of Rough and Twisted should be available tomorrow.
The Times article seems clear: this record won’t be the last for Mick Jagger’s crew, as the band would already have “a dozen other tracks in reserve” for what’s next. A mysterious website dedicated to The Cockroaches reveals GPS coordinates that point to various French cities, from Quimper to Paris and Montpellier. Clues to get hands on this white label vinyl?
