The Smashing Pumpkins: What Surprises Does Billy Corgan Have in Store?

May 13, 2026

The frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins will perform in Paris on September 8 and 9, at Salle Pleyel. Two concerts in which he will revisit one of the band’s major albums, accompanied by an orchestra and a choir.

In 1995, The Smashing Pumpkins released their third album titled Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness — one of their greatest successes, stuffed with a string of hits: 1979, Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Tonight, Tonight… A record that Billy Corgan, founder and frontman of the cult band, will revisit on September 8 and 9 at Salle Pleyel. And he will do so alongside an orchestra and a choir of more than one hundred voices.

A grandiose performance that he had already delivered last year with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, on the stage of the Lyric Opera House in the American city. He is thus preparing to repeat this artistic experience before a French audience — a proper celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of this landmark album.
