For several months, Paramore’s singer, who also shines in her solo work, has been quietly releasing new tracks under Power Snatch, her duo with producer and songwriter Daniel James.
Hayley Williams still seems to have something up her sleeve. Worldwide known since 2004 with her Tennessee-based pop-rock-punk band Paramore, the ensemble continued to attract attention in 2023 with the release of its sixth album This Is Why, followed by a tour with megastar Taylor Swift on her Eras Tour the following year. Since then, Hayley Williams has released a superb third solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party (2025, Post Atlantic) and is preparing a North American and European tour as well as a stop at We Love Green on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
On Monday, March 9, Nate Amos of This Is Lorelei (also half of the Brooklyn group Water From Your Eyes, who will open for Hayley Williams on her tour) announced the super deluxe version of his debut album, Box For Buddy, Box For Star (2024, Double Double Whammy) including a cover of his track Perfect Hand performed by Power Snatch, the duo comprising Hayley Williams and her producer Daniel James, who had already worked on Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party.
Alt-Pop Explorations
The first trace of Power Snatch’s existence dates back to July 2025, on the dedicated Instagram account, @powersnatched. The duo unveiled a clip of one of their tracks with a very DIY-style video showing a projection on a white wall. In January, Power Snatch released Assignment, their first single premiering on Apple Music, today available on all platforms.
In early February, the duo released a three-track EP, available exclusively on Bandcamp. The songs are buoyant alternative-pop compositions, recalling This Is Lorelei’s indie-pop, or the more minimalist experiments of the pre-pop Scandinavian scene (Smerz, Waterbaby…), but sometimes with guitars thick with distortion.
In French, “Power Snatch” is said as “arraché debout” and designates a weightlifting move that involves standing up with the bar over the head, arms extended. So we eagerly await a display of that strength. With a Power Snatch album?
