Surprise at the Emmys. Even in what is the farewell year for ‘Hacks’, another comedy has managed to prevail in most of the awards, including Best Comedy. ‘The Curse of Widow’s Bay’, a blend of comedy, thriller and, truth be told, some drama as well, available on Apple TV, has taken 14 of the 19 statuettes it was nominated for. That, however, did not prevent Jean Smart from collecting her traditional Best Actress prize for her role as Deborah Vance in ‘Hacks’.
In Drama, the big winner has been ‘The Pitt’, recognized as Best Drama Series and Best Actor for Noah Wyle, although as El País notes, it is also noteworthy that there have been several recognitions for ‘Pluribus’. In miniseries, and as we predicted a few days ago, the big laureate has been ‘DTF St Louis’. David Harbour can make amends for his public image crisis following his controversial divorce from Lily Allen, by being named Best Supporting Actor for this same fiction.
